Radiation free caries diagnostics with cold light probes

There are two ways to diagnose caries: The first is the x-ray, whereby x-ray radiation is used to make the diagnosis and the second way is the light probe, in which normal visible light is used. For the frontal teeth I only use the light probe and no x-rays. For the lateral teeth, I look for caries with the light probe in addition to the x-ray, as sometimes the light probe and sometimes the x-ray can show the caries more exactly.

In the photo you can see two incisors next to each other in which caries is penetrating through the enamel into the interior of the tooth. The caries appears as a dark triangle on the edge of the tooth.
